A question that comes around more often than you might think is once I’ve upgraded my old golf headcover for a premium one, how do I keep it clean?
For those of us playing throughout the winter you know there is a lot to keep clean and your headcovers are no different. For the record and for good reason, iron head covers are not endorsed by C.G.C and won’t be covered in this article.
If you own a premium golf headcover like the ones we offer at Clara Golf Club you have good reason to want to keep it clean. Here’s a few bits of advice that might help you out:
Whatever you do, do not put your headcover in the washing machine.
Premium headcovers are often made of leather or PU leather as the main material which does not react well to not water and the violence of a washing machine. Depending on your headcover there might be some embroidery or print which can also be washed away. A washing machine is guaranteed to ruin your headcover and bring you right back to your old Ping headcover from 2012. Nobody wants that.
Use a washing cloth and some warm water with soap.
You’re safest bet is to grab a bowl or small bucket and fill it with some warm water (but not too hot) and soap in combination with a washing cloth. Dip the cloth in the water, squeeze out most of the water so the cloth is damp and gently wash away any dirt or marks that have appeared on your headcover over time. Using this on your premium headcover is a much safer option and is a good way to extend the life of your headcover.
If your golf headcover is really dirty? Just buy a new one.
Give up on trying to save that Ping or Callaway driver headcover from 2012. There are plenty of brands offering a better, funnier and more creative way to protect your most important item in the bag. No better place to start than Clara Golf Club’s premium headcovers but there’s plenty of other options at Malbon Golf, Random Golf Club or Quiet Golf to name a few.
